Hi, I have a few questions. I recently got an ef johnson 5100 es and I need to get it programed for my volunteer fire department. We operate on low, high and 800. I was wondering if this portable would be capable of being programmed for each band since it has three channels with 16 sub channels. the model number is 242-512A-433JH6. I am in oswego county, ny. I would really appreciate any help that i can get as i have tried my local radio shops and none of them can program ef's. Thanks in advance.

I just purchased an EF Johnson 5100 and need help. First, I believe the radio is one of the “legacy” radios from 2002. It is Model # 242-5113-210-BC and version 1.10.0. It is in very good condition for its age and my intended uses are not exotic. I like to have the local Amateur Radio repeaters, Civil Air Patrol's P25 rpt/simplex channels, and marine channels in one radio. No encryption on anything I need to do with it. Can anyone decode the model number for me, and tell me more about programming this radio. The menu tells me that the keypad prg is disabled so I will need the PC Config software. Is this model still supported by EF Johnson? Can the firmware be updated and how? I plan on purchasing another one. If the new radio's verion is much newer than the one I have now will I have to purchase two copies of PC Config inorder to program two vastly different 5100s? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Should have asked these questions before purchasing. TNX
